2001
On 26th January 2001, Gujarat was hit by a disastrous earthquake. The worst hit areas were Kutch and neighbouring areas. To help the affected people, Disable Welfare Trust of India arranged for relief funds and squads on 1st February 2001. We were in immediate touch of Shrimati Sangeeta Sinha, District Collector and District Magistrate. The relief was ready at a very quick pace and valuable time was saved. We not only managed to raise a considerable amount of money and other articles, we also arranged for a Doctor Team and other volunteers to go and work there. The whole of the team stayed in Bhachachu area of Kutch for 8 days constantly. They stayed there and worked in the leadership of the Chief of Disable welfare trust of India. Following are the list which was provided by us for the noble cause.

(1) With the help of Sports & Youth & Cultural Department of Gujarat Govt. an adventure course has been arranged for Handicapped children at Mount Abu. The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Kushubhai Patel and the Speaker of Vidhan Sabha, Shri Dhirubhai Shah have congratulated them.
(2) The Trust has distributed 300 water bags and 19 tricycles to the poor and needy handicapped children of this school.
(3) For the conveyance for the handicapped students a bus has been donated by M/s. Hariom Silk Mills, Surat in the presence of Shri Kashirambhai Rana, Union Textile Minister.
(4) Convened a meeting of 27th yearly convention of the handicapped welfare trust of South Gujarat and discussed various problems facing the handicapped persons and decided to take up the matters with concerned authorities.
(5) A camp has been arranged at Mangrol, Surat District, wherein Civil surgeon’s certificate, tricycles, crutches, calipers and self employment guidance have been given to handicapped persons and more than 471 handicapped benefited by this.
(6) Trust has arranged a camp at the school premises wherein handicapped articles have been distributed to the handicapped which was co-sponsored by Surat District.
Handicapped Rehabilitation Centre and District Social Defense Department. 101 tricycles have been distributed to the Handicapped children by Shri Narendrabhai Modi, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat. |
2002 |
(1) First time in India handicapped students have participated Air-Rifle shooting competition which was arranged by the trust at our school premises and most of the students had participated in this competition.
(2) As a part of self-employment, a separate tution classes centre has been opened by the trust and 5 female handicapped are taking classes in this centre and earning their bread and butter. This centre has been opened by Shri Hemantbhai Chapatwala, Hon’ble Minister for Law & Justice of Gujarat Govt.
(3) Two Sets of school uniforms have been distributed to 333 students of this school by trust.
(4) A camp have been arranged at school premises for 3 days and handicapped articles have been distributed to 426 handicapped in Surat city and adjoining places. This camp was inaugurated by Shri Valllabhbhai Kathiria, Hon’ble Union Minister of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises.
(5) A awareness camp have been arranged at Tribal area of Nizar, Surat Dist. and through this camp civil surgeons certificates had been issued to the handicapped and also handicapped articles to the needy people which was benefited more than 409 persons.
(6) a camp have been arranged at school premises for one day and handicapped articles have been distributed to 27 handicapped in Surat city and adjoining places. The camp was inaugurated by Smt.Kumudben Patel (Dist. Social Defence Officer, Surat), With help of Dr.C.T.Maheta Rehab Centre.
(7) A blood group checking camp have been arranged at school premises for one day. 300 disabled students were benefited of it. |
2003 |
(1) A “ Disable Rehab Centre” inaugurated at school premises by Shri Kashirambhai Rana, Minister of Textile, New Delhi, Govt. of India, Shri Director of Social Defense Department, Govt.of Gujarat for needy people of crutches, tricycles, walkers for handicapped person. The centre is a joint project of Disable Welfare Trust of India, Surat & Dr.C.T.Mehta Rehab centre, Baroda.
(2) 6th Internation Abilympics was organised at Indira Gandhi stadium, New Delhi during 26 to 29, November 2003. Abilympics was inaugurated by Shri Atalbihari Bajpayee, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Hon’ble President of India, including renowned dignitaries of Nation and the representative from 32 countries also participated. As a member of Governing body of above mentioned ceremony, the function was well planned and managed.
(3) As a member of Executive Committee of Rehabilitation Council of India, Dept. of Social Justice & Empowerment, New Delhi has deputed for the period of three years.
(4) A programme was organised under the Chairmanship of Shri Kashiram Rana, Minister of Rural Developement, Govt. of India, in which “I” card, civil surgeon certificates, tricycles, wheel chairs, etc. were distributed among 500 disabled while scholarships were distributed to 408 students.
(5) A parents gathering was organized under the Chairmanship of Hon’ble Mayor Shri Snehlataben Chauhan and in the presence of distinguished guest shri G.R.Aloria (I.A.S.) Municipal Commissioner. The intention of gathering was to alleviate the inferiority complex of the parents of disabled children to create awareness. About 1000 of parents remained present on this occasion.
(6) A programme was organized under the Chairmanship of Shri V.K.Gupta (I.P.S) Police commissioner, surat city, Shri P.B.Gadhavi, D.E.O Surat, Artificial limbs wheel chair calipers, walker distributed for needy people.
(7) A programme was organized under chairman ship of Shri Dr.Praful Shiroya, Lokdrasti chakshu Bank, Surat in which Eye checkup has been made and 55 spectacles Dristibuted for needy disabled children.
(8) Nature education camp was organised at Dang & Ahwa and 35 students benefited under Giants Group of Surat Chaupati & Ayushi Foundation Ahmedabad |
2004 |
(1) A programme was organized under chairmanship of Shri Anilbhai Jain, Commissioner of Income Tax, Vadodara, Director of Prime Bank, Shri Ravi Modi, Propritor of Surat Beverages company Ltd. Distributed 400 Blanckets to disabled people & Distribution of Feather Sewing Machines.
(2) Sweater distribution programme held for 400 disabled Students under the chairmanship of Shri Amrat Vadiya, editor, Sandesh daily Surat.
(3) Kite Flying festival held at surat with the help of Sandesh daily news paper around 800 disabled students benefited from areas from Deaf & dumb, Blind, Mentaly disabled, Physically handicapped.
(4) A Marrige ceremony of two disabled couples held in presence of Shri Ramanbhai Vohra, Minister of Social Justice & Emp. Govt. of Guj.
(5) An artificial limbs transplantation Camp held at Agrasen Bhawan, city light road, Surat with the help of Marvadi yuva Manch, around 534 disabled people benefited from it. The camp inaugurated by Shri Pankaj Joshi (I.A.S) Collector, Surat, Smt.Snehlataben Chuahan, Mayor, SMC, Surat. Smt. Savitaben Sharda, M.P. Govt. of India, Shri. Narrotambhai Patel Minister, Govt. of Guj.
(6) Inaugration of the office of Local Level Committee, National Trust (Govt. of India) at Disabled School by Shri J.B.Vora, Addi.Collector, Surat Dist.), Shri Sailesh Desai, District, Defence officer, Surat & Trustee Shri Mohanbhai Nair.
(7) An ISO 9001:2000 Certificate Distribution programme done at Disabled School for its Various Activity & Quality Managment with the worthy hands of Shri Ramakant Prasad Staff (ISO), Hon.Shri Kashiram Rana, M.P. Loksabha, Govt. of India.
(8) Training for Surat District wardens organized by surat district civil Defence Dept. Govt. of Guj. The training been done under supervision of DSP civil Defence, Shri Subhashbhai Desai P.I., Shri Babubhai Patel around 350 wardens benefifed from this programme.
(9) Tricle distribution programme for 7 disabled people done under chairmanship of Shri J.P.Singh Member secretary R.C.I Govt. of India, New Delhi, Shri Saileshbhai Desai District Social Defence office, Shri Santoshbhai Sharma, President Marwadi Yuva Manch at Disabled School.
(10) 108 Tricycles were Distributed to needy disable people with the help of surat digamber Jain Samaj under chairmanship of Shri G.R.Aloriya (I.A.S.) Municipal Commissioner Surat.
(11) Inauguration programme Astavakra Yojana & Distibution held 31 tricycle’s unde this yojna with the warthy hands of Shri Pankaj Joshi (I.A.S.) Collector Surat, Shri V.D. Asari, Director, Social Defence Dept. Guj. State. Shri Saileshbhai Desai, S.D.O. Surat.
(12) A Medical checkup camp organozed by S.M.C. around 300 beneficiaries were benefited from it.

2005 |
(1) A workshop for guidance of parents of disabled students held at disabled school under chairmanship of shri Major H.P.S. Ahluwaliya (Chairman RCI, New Delhi).
(2) A medical check up camp and certificate distribution programme held under Ashtavakra Yojna at disabled school. 400 disabled people benefited from this camp.
(3) 15 wheel chairs were distributed among disabled children under the chairman ship of shri Kishorbhai Vankawala (President, B.J.P., Surat city), Shri Binaben Brahma (Corporator, Surat Municipal Corporation)
(4) F.D. Were distributed in the presence of Shri O.Ravi (I.A.S., Secretary, Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of Gujarat) among 255 students of total rupees 1,59,770.
(5) Computers were distributed among the unemployed disableds in the presence of Social Defense officer, Surat.
(6) Uniforms were distributed among 400 disabled students of the school by H.N. Hingu (The Chairman, GSEBoard)
(7) Distribution of an ambulance and donation of Rs. 11 lacs to the institution by Shri P.K.Johari (CF of ONGC, Hazira)
(8) F.D. and prize distribution by Shri Bhaskarbhai Maheta (Commissioner for disabled, Govt. of Gujarat)
(9) Pothi Yatra for Gayatri Yagna from Ichchanath Mahadev temple to Proposed venue for institute, Umara
(10) 108 Kundi Gayatri Yagna for the Welfare and peace of world’s disableds in the presence of Shri Narottambhai Patel (Minister for Water supply, Govt. of Gujarat), Shri Pankaj Joshi (Municipal Commissioner, Surat), Shri Sudhir Sinha (Commissioner of Police, Surat)
(11) 3 Days tour for Sirdi, Trumbak and Saputara was organised by shri Sai Shradha charitable trust for the disableds of each category (physically handicapped, blind, deaf and dumb, Mentally retarded). it was for the first time in the history of Surat city were 9 buses were engasged and planning on such a high scale. |
2006 |
- An Abilympics competition was organized by the Disable Welfare Trust of India under the National Abilympics Association of India (Western Region) at NTPC, Kawas
- The foundation ceremony at the proposed venue of the new school building by the H.E. the Vice President of India Shri Bhaironsinh Shekhawat. On this auspicious ceremony Shri Kashiram Rana (former central Minister, Govt. of India), Shri Narottambhai Patel (Water supsply minister, Govt. of Gujarat), Shri Ramanlal Vora (Social Justice and Empowerment Minister, Govt. of Gujarat), Shri Kanubhai Mawani (Mayor, Surat city), Smt. Vatsala Vasudev (Surat District Collector) and Shri Sudhir Sinha (Police Commissioner of Surat) were present.
